Dr. Asthik Biswas, MBBS DNB, is a Consultant Paediatric Neuroradiologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, London, and the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London. Dr. Asthik completed his fellowship training in Paediatric Neuroradiology from SickKids in Toronto. He completed his Paediatric Radiology at Monash Children’s Hospital in Australia and Christian Medical College in India. His area of interest is Neurometabolic and Neurogenetic Disorders, Brain Malformations, and Paediatric Stroke.

About the session: Malformations of cortical development comprise a heterogenous group of disorders underlined by the disrupted formation of the cortex. The underlying drivers for the development of MCD may be genetic, vascular, ischemic, and infectious etiologies. The outline of this lecture is to briefly review normal cortical development and anatomy, followed by a discussion of the genetic drivers of MCD.
