Dr. Whitehouse is a recently retired child neurologist with 30 years of experience as a consultant. His particular clinical interests comprise Pediatric headaches, including IIH, epilepsies, syncope, and common autonomic disorders in children. He has worked for the past 20 years in the UK's national children's ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T) clinic in Nottingham. He was the medical school lead for the undergraduate pediatrics course and module convenor for their developmental neuroscience attachment, which he still teaches. He helped develop the British Paediatric Neurology Association's Children's Headache Training (CHaT) course, which he still regularly teaches. Clinical research interests include headache, epilepsy, and A-T. He has almost 300 publications to his name, over 7,000 citations, an H-index of 43, and an i10-index of 93, according to Google Scholar. He is gradually relinquishing his clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities.

This talk on "Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension in Children" will cover the terminology, epidemiology, and diagnosis of IIH and Pseudotumor Cerebri Syndrome (PTCS) in children and young people. It will explore some of the current ideas and controversies around the pathology/aetiology of IIH and review current management options and priorities for future research.
