Pediatric Stroke: Hot Topics, Global Challenges

Course Description
Our aim is to provide practical updates and strategies to address the most pressing and controversial issues related to pediatric stroke. A focus on infectious/ inflammatory mechanisms and acute management will emphasize practical clinical issues combined with distinct but universal considerations of mechanism. 

Speakers will be experts within an emerging childhood cerebrovascular disease global network and will address the challenges of stroke management in resource-limited settings.

Learning Objectives

1. Approach the acute management of a child with stroke with confidence based on modern evidence-based best clinical practice, and
2. Appreciate the possible roles of specific infections and inflammation in the pathogenesis of childhood arterial ischemic stroke and resultant treatment implications.

1. Evaluate children for infectious causes of stroke.
2. Identify changes I could make in my practice related to offering children hyperacute stroke therapy.
