The Child Neurology Society is now accepting applications for the 2020 Bernard D’Souza International Fellowship Award, which will sponsor two child neurologists from developing countries to attend the Joint 16th International Child Neurology Congress/49th Annual Child Neurology Society Meeting to be held in San Diego, CA (October 19-23, 2020). Following the meeting, D’Souza fellows will spend one week visiting a selected training program in North America before returning home. The purpose of the award is to promote child neurology in developing countries.

The applications are to be submitted online at cns.nonprofitcms.org/a/Solicitations/Home/1192
on-line thru April 20, 2020. Applicants will be required to upload a CV and up to three letters of recommendation.

Requirements:
  • Applicant trained in a low-income or middle-income country
  • Applicant is practicing child neurology in an academic environment in a low-income or middle-income country
  • Applicant should prepare a scientific poster in English to be presented at the annual meeting
  • Preference will be shown to applicants less than age 45 years, practicing in a poor resource setting

Deadline for receipt of applications is May 31, 2020.
Expenses covered:
  1. Registration fee waiver to attend the Joint 16th International Child Neurology Congress/49th Annual Child Neurology Society Meeting
  2. Round-trip coach fare originating and ending in home country with in-between flights to/from San Diego, California and a single host training program to be determined jointly with CNS International Affairs Committee Chair, Dr. Jorge Vidaurre. Travel must be
    arranged through CNS designated travel agent.
  3. Hotel room nights in headquarter hotel (San Diego Marriott Marquis) and up to one-week at host training program in a CNS-designated hotel.
  4. Standard per diem payment for up to five days in San Diego and seven days in host training program city (including transportation to and from airport).
  5. Award recipient will be responsible for all other expenses
