ICNA Educational Meeting Chandigarh 2016
The ICNA Educational Meeting – PGI – ICNA Neuropediatrics Update CME was organized by Prof. Pratibha Singhi at the Advanced Pediatrics Centre, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh from 16 – 17 January, 2016. The theme of the meeting was Neurometabolic Disorders- made simple. The meeting was inaugurated by the Director, PGI. Over 100 doctors including pediatric residents, pediatricians and pediatric neurologists participated in this very interactive meeting. Prof. Ingrid Tein and Prof. Linda DeMeirleir were the international invited speakers from ICNA, who contributed the most to the meeting. Prof. Pratibha Singhi and her team from the Pediatric Neurology Unit, and Prof. N.Khandelwal from the Department of Radio-Diagnosis, PGI, Chandigarh and Prof. Madhulika Kabra from AIIMS, New Delhi were the Indian speakers.
The meeting covered a lot of ground starting from basic approach to neurometabolic disorders and going on to individual groups of disorders including Lysosomal storage diseases, Vitamin responsive epileptic encephalopathies, neonatal metabolic encephalopathies, mitochondrial disorders, neurodegenerative disorders, metabolic myopathies, congenital disorders of glycosylation, neuro-imaging, TMS, GCMS etc. etc. The highlight of the meeting was the interesting case discussions which ranged from simple cases for demonstration, to the discussion of complicated cases wherein the diagnosis had yet to be ascertained. There was considerable enthusiasm with a lot of interaction and questions from the participants. A very positive feedback was obtained from the participants at the end of the meeting.'
