Carlos Pardo-Villamizar
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
Dr. Pardo is a Professor of Neurology and Pathology, and a clinician-scientist focused on studies dedicated to understanding and managing neurological, neuroimmune, and neuroinfectious disorders. As a neuroscientist, his research centers on studies of neurological disorders' immunopathogenesis, disease biomarkers, and models of neuroimmunological and infectious disorders. His studies on immunopathogenesis and biomarker discovery use state-of-the-art immunological and molecular techniques to investigate brain tissues, cerebrospinal fluid, and blood. As a clinician, he focuses on studies of neuroimmunological and neuroinfectious disorders. He serves as Director of the Johns Hopkins Myelitis & Myelopathy Center and the Neurosarcoidosis Clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital, unique, specialized centers dedicated to diagnosing and researching these disorders. He has collaborated extensively with diverse groups at Johns Hopkins and around the world on studies of the role of the interactions of infections and immune and CNS systems and pathogenic mechanisms in neurological disorders such as myelitis, neurosarcoidosis, encephalitis, demyelinating and infectious disorders, and others.
