Emmanuel Flamand-Roze, M.D., Ph.D., is a professor of neurology at Sorbonne University in Paris. He is consultant neurologist at the movement disorders clinic of the Salpêtrière hospital with special expertise in children with movement disorders. He devised a transition program (JUMP) for adolescent and young adults living with chronic neurological illness. He is the head of a research group at the Paris Brain institute, where his main research interests are neurodevelopmental disorders of the motor system, especially dystonia/dyskinesia. He studies clinical aspects, genetic causes, pathogenesis and works on experimental therapeutics in preclinical models and patients with movement disorders. He published 320 papers, mostly on these topics. Finally, he has a keen interest in teaching and developed an innovative simulation-based medical education program to teach neurological features to medical students, and a podcast about medical humanities. He is the chair of the pediatric special interest group of the movement disorders society and co-created a monthly international virtual pediatric videorounds with the support of the movement disorders society.
