Thaís Armangue

Dr. Armangue received her MD degree with honors from the Autonomous University of Barcelona School of Medicine in 2006. She completed a residency in Pediatrics (2007-2011) and a fellowship in Pediatric Neurology (2011-2013) at Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, for which she received the Spanish Society of Pediatric Neurology fellowship grant. To pursue an interest in Neuroimmunology she joined the Neuroimmunology Program at IDIBAPS-Hospital Clinic directed by Dr. Josep Dalmau in 2011 as a research fellow. In 2012, she received a pre-doctoral grant from Instituto Carlos III and had the honor of being the highest national rated candidate of the 2012 call. More recently, in October 2014 he received the Rio Hortega clinical-research grant and also had the honor of being the highest national rated candidate of the 2014 national call. Her research project involves both clinical and basic science studies to identify new antigens associated with pediatric autoimmune encephalitis and demyelinating disorders, to characterize these diseases and their prognosis in the pediatric population. As an example she designed and participates as co-PI in two prospective multicenter studies that involve more than 45 pediatric centers in Spain: 1) Diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in pediatric multiple sclerosis and related disorders (funded by Marató TV3 2014); and 2) Prospective multicenter study of patients with Herpes Simples Encephalitis and its relationship with autoimmune encephalitis. As she shows has a strong interest in children with Multiple Sclerosis and other demyelinating disorders and in 2013 she became a member of the International Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Study Group (IPMSSG). Dr. Armangue’s work has been presented at the annual meetings of the Spanish Society of Neurology, the Spanish Society of Pediatric Neurology and the American Neurologic Association, and published with Dr. Armangue’s as first author in the Journal of Child Neurology 2012, Journal of Pediatrics 2012, Annals of Neurology 2012 and 2013, Current Opinion in Neurology 2014, Lancet Neurology 2014, Neurology 2015, and “The Nelson Textbook 20th edition” among other international journals.
