Aaron D. Fobian earned her B.A. in Psychology from Samford University in 2008 and her Ph.D. in Clinical/Medical Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2013. She completed her clinical internship at Baylor College of Medicine in 2013, and in 2014 she completed her psychology post-doctoral fellow in the Leadership Education in Adolescent Medicine (LEAH) program in the Department of Pediatrics at UAB. Currently she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UAB. She is working with the Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC) to develop a study assessing the effects of increased sleep duration in overweight and obese adolescents.

As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Fobian is interested in translational research which will inform her clinical practice. Her research interests include the behavioral factors associated with sleep and obesity, such as the effects of media use on sleep and the effects of sleep on obesity. She is assessing both metabolic and weight outcomes associated with increased sleep duration in adolescents. Dr. Fobian is also interested in the development and efficacy of psychological interventions for both sleep and obesity.
