Inviting nominations to the ACNA Committee

Dear Colleagues,
The African Child Neurology Association (ACNA) falls under the umbrella of the ICNA. ACNA is now over 10 years old after it’s inauguration at the ICNC in 2010 in Egypt and is the main child neurology body representing child neurodisability needs in Africa.We invite nominations to stand for election to serve for the term 2022-2026.

ALL NOMINATIONS SHOULD BE EMAILED TO OFFICE@ICNAPEDIA.ORG BEFORE 1 NOVEMBER 2021

Criteria

  • Living and working in an African tertiary hospital as a child neurologist
  • Member of ICNA and ACNA
  • Support via a letter on headed paper from the national body for child neurology or if not available paediatrics.
  • If the individual submitting is not the nominee then the nominating part must include a letter from the nominee confirming their agreement to stand.

Committee roles

  • To act as a conduit of communication to ICNA for activities in Africa
  • To provide a virtual / online hub for communications and networking – via the ICNApedia ACNA site but also other media (eg WhatsApp groups)
  • To facilitate child neurology activities in Africa – making sure members are aware of meeting opportunities (ICNC, EPNS, etc) and educational opportunities (eg ICNTN, ILAE EM/NA/A webinairs)
  • To identify key areas of need which could be focus points for support from the ICNA eg upskilling child neurology in Zimbabwe, rolling out PET courses in Africa
  • The chair will be invited to present at the EB ICNA meetings – if they are not an elected member of the ICNA EB they will be invited to present as a co-opted non-voting member
