Dr. Ami Shah is a DNB Pediatrics and is doing a Fellowship in Clinical Genetics (MUHS). She is a specialized Pediatrician in Clinical Genetics and a consultant at B. J. Wadia Hospital for Children and other private hospitals in Mumbai, India. Her journey post-fellowship began at a center specializing in Pediatric Neurology, which was responsible for her keen interest in Neurometabolic and Neurogenetic Disorders. She has a few articles on rare Metabolic and Neurogenetic Disorders and has participated in research studies for Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Her vision is to ensure continued medical education and spread knowledge of genetics among clinicians.

Dr. Robyn Whitney MD, FRCPC, CSCN (EEG) is a Pediatric Neurologist/Epileptologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Whitney’s clinical interests are Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathies, Epilepsy Genetics, Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, and Epilepsy Surgery. Her research interests are DEEs, Epilepsy Genetics, TSC, and Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals related to these topics. Dr. Whitney also has an interest in medical education.

Epilepsy is the most common Neurological manifestation of Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. There is an increased rate of treatment resistance in this group. Hence, the last decade has seen an increase in research with the expansion of our knowledge in treatment. This session will review a case of Epilepsy related to Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. This will be followed by a didactic discussion of Epilepsy in the Tuberous Sclerosis Complex led by Dr. Whitney. The talk will focus on newer therapies and approaches to choosing the best option in clinical practice.
