Dr. Gunce Basarir graduated from the Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. He has completed his Pediatrics residency at the University of Health Sciences, Zeynep Kamil Training and Research Hospital in İstanbul, Turkey. He is currently working as a final year fellow physician in the Department of Paediatric Neurology, Izmir Katip Celebi University Tepecik Training and Research Hospital, Turkey.
Dr. Ozlem Ersoy graduated from the Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. She has finished her Pediatrics residency at Haseki Training and Research Hospital in İstanbul. She also worked as a Pediatrician for almost five years there. She recently completed a Paediatric Neurology Fellowship at Mersin University Faculty of Medicine in Mersin. Currently, she is working at the Mersin City Hospital as a Paediatric Neurology Consultant.
Dr. Anusha Raj K. graduated from Mysore Medical College & Research Institute, Rajiv Gandhi University & Health Sciences in Karnataka, India. She has completed her Pediatrics residency at MAHE Manipal University in Karnataka, India. She has completed her Paediatric Neurology Fellowship from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health in Bangalore, India, the last year. She is now working as a Paediatric Neurology Consultant in Mysore, India.
Expert Feculty, Dr. Ming Lim has undertaken undergraduate medical training at the University Nottingham, UK. After completing his Paediatric Neurology training in South London, he began his doctoral research at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (London). He has been awarded the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Research Training Fellowship there. He was appointed as Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital in 2006 and promoted to honorary Reader in 2016. He is the Head of Children’s Neuroscience, Evelina R&D Lead and Paediatric Lead for the GSTT NIHR Clinical Research Facility. He has set up the Children's Neuroscience Department Brain and Spine Inflammation Service with a successful research portfolio; leading and participating in multi-center/multi-national investigator-led studies; contributing to industry-led studies; and collaborating in basic studies investigating the role of inflammation in neurodegeneration and immunobiology of antibody-mediated central nervous system disorders.
CNS autoimmune and auto-inflammation conditions have varied a myriad of presentations in children. Early diagnosis, acute and long-term immunomodulation helps to improve outcome, reduce relapse and complications. During the session, we will discuss two interesting cases of CNS autoimmune conditions, share current guidelines and expert opinion by Dr.Ming Lim.
