Non-convulsive status epilepticus is used to refer to several conditions including absence status epilepticus, myoclonic status epilepticus, complex partial status epilepticus etc. It would also include patients in coma with electrical status epilepticus.Absence status epilepticus on the other hand is characterized by prolonged confusion and drowsiness and associated with abnormal EEG patterns different from those seen interictally.
