It gives me the greatest pleasure to invite you to join us at the next International Congress on Neuromuscular Diseases to be held in Toronto from July 5-9, 2016. We are very excited to be hosting this important conference in Toronto as the Congress has been located in Europe for its meetings excepting the inaugural meeting in Vancouver in 2002. We hope to follow in the successful footsteps of the meetings in Vancouver, Istanbul, Naples and Nice. At the meeting in Nice in 2014, it was decided that the Congress would move to a two-year cycle instead of meeting every four years. At that meeting, Toronto won the bid to host the next International Congress in 2016

We have developed robust committees: International, program and local organizing, that are populated by outstanding neuromuscular physicians. The program committee is planning a fabulous program ranging across the spectrum of neuromuscular disorders. We will have sessions on muscular dystrophies, other myopathies, myasthenia gravis, polyneuropathies, spinal cord disorders, and neurofibromatosis to name some of the major themes within the Congress. We will have updates on our understanding of the genetics, pathogenesis, evaluation and treatment of neuromuscular disorders. At the end of this Congress, we hope that attendees feel that they have garnered the most up-to-date information available in neuromuscular disorders.

The members of the local organizing committee are very proud to be hosting the ICNMD2016 and look forward to welcoming you to our city and country. Toronto and its environs are an amazing place to visit. Our multicultural city has many diverse neighborhoods of interest to visitors. Short distances away are wonderful attractions such as Niagara Falls. We also have easy access to the North Country for those who are interested in visiting the Canadian wilderness. The meeting promises to be highly rewarding on a social basis as well as on an intellectual basis.

Please mark in your calendars the dates of the ICNMD2016, July 5 - 9, 2016, so that you may join your colleagues in what we hope will be a fantastic meeting.

Sincerely,

Dr. Vera Bril

Dear colleagues and friends,

It gives us a great pleasure to invite you to participate at our traditional international meetings as are the 3rd Pan-Slavic Congress of Child neurology and 21st CNM Congress to be held as a double event in Dubrovnik in Croatia from 19 – 22 October 2016. Web site: http://en.childneuro2016.eu/

This joint congress will cover various challenging aspects of Child neurology, Neonatal Medicine and other fields of medicine in childhood and adolescence.

We are wishing to send our warmest invitation to you to actively participate as a speaker, poster presenter or discussant at sessions of the congress.

It is a Pan-Slavic and Mediterranean congress but we
would like to establish a global bridge between East and West, North and South and experience up-to-date knowledge together with child neurologists, child psychiatrists, paediatricians and many other professionals working in the field of neurological and developmental problems.

We believe it to be a truly outstanding professional performance and we hope you will find the arrangements we are working on most satisfactory.

We will have many exciting scientific sessions for exchange of knowledge and the program will also cover a wide range of recent advanced issues.

The congress organizers have tentatively arranged an unforgettable social program for the attendees of the congress and their companions.

We hope to show you the legendary hospitality of people leaving in a part of cradle of civilisation you hear so much about.

Dubrovnik as a UNESCO World Heritage Site is an ideal city for a visit since it has a diversity of historical sites and numerous recreational activities to offer. In 1377, it became the first city in the world to develop and implement quarantine legislation, and in 1390 it established the earliest recorded permanent Health Office.

Taking this chance, we thank you in advance for participation in the congress that will never be a success without your presence.

Finally, please accept our best regards,

Milivoj Velickovic Perat

Bridging worlds: child neurology from a global perspective

A  Dutch View: 14th International Child Neurology Congress,

May 1-5,  2016

It is with great pleasure that we invite the world’s pediatric neurologists, trainees, nurses, technicians, dieticians, speech therapists, physical therapists, and other (paramedic) specialists to attend the 14th International Child Neurology Congress from May 1-5, 2016 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

As local organizing committee, we represent  the Dutch Society of Pediatric Neurology (NVKN). The organization of this congress is strongly supported by its members. Since its foundation in 1975, our society has continuously been active and has flourished. With a primary background in either adult neurology or pediatrics, Dutch pediatric neurologists are united in one society and form a well-trained and skilled group of colleagues. Our society aims to maintain the highest national standard for the care of all pediatric patients with neurological disorders, in close collaboration with our colleagues in neurology, pediatrics, genetics and rehabilitative medicine, among others.

In addition, the society aims to facilitate national and international pediatric neurology research. Furthermore, training in child neurology is considered of major importance.  Dutch pediatric neurologists have been traditionally active in ICNA:  Jacobus Willemse is one of the founding fathers of the ICNA, Ritske Le Coultre was the third ICNA president 1975-1979 and recently Michel Willemsen was elected as ICNA board member.

Please mark your calendar!

We look forward to welcoming you all in the beautiful city of Amsterdam for the  14th ICNC from May 1 – 5th 2016.

The worldwide recognition of Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME), or Janz Syndrome, has created confusion about the criteria, treatment in the different age groups, and lifestyle recommendations. Patients with JME still face suboptimal management.

In the past five years many studies in JME patients have provided new insights, which will be addressed in the International Conference on JME held at the Bel Air Hotel, The Hague, The Netherlands on October 26th - 28th 2012

When you attend, you will gain:

  • A better understanding of the multiple genetic factors involved
  • More knowledge of the complex clinical phenotype which includes neuropsychological and psychiatric elements
  • More knowledge about circadian mechanisms and interaction with the environment
  • New concepts about the relationship between JME and other forms of epilepsies
  • A better understanding of the long-term evolution
  • Insights into new therapeutic strategies
Your questions and case histories can be discussed with the distinguished faculty as well as with the 'father' of JME: Prof Dr Dieter Janz from Berlin, Germany.
Call for Abstracts

Abstract submission deadline: July 20th 2012

The conference welcomes submissions on all JME topics, including but not limited to:

- JME and treatment
- JME and provocative factors
- JME in families
- JME and behavior
- JME and EEG
