Developmental Epileptic Encephalopathies (DEEs) are an expanding spectrum as a result of rapid and advanced genetic analysis. Even though classifications and our knowledge have improved, the diagnostic process can still be challenging, and patients may present with different clinical phenotypes. Dyskinetic epileptic encephalopathies are an important part of epileptic encephalopathies that clinical manifestations may accompany and/or also initiate with complex movement disorders. In this session, we aimed to talk about the different clinical presentations of DEE, treatable disorders related to DEE and movement disorders, and the importance of the diagnostic process to developmental progress.

By attending the session, you will be able to learn the following points:

  • Understanding the different presentations of DEEs.
  • Variability of clinical presentation, biochemical, neuroimaging, and genetic study.
  • Impact of Next Generation Sequencing and Genotype-phenotype Correlation.
  • Importance of targeted therapies for disease progression/response.
