About Topic:
Fetal neurology is a rapidly evolving aspect of pediatric neurology. Opinion on antenatally detected anomalies of the CNS are a small but significant subset of consultations sought from Pediatric Neurologists. Paradigm shifts have occurred in this arena with advancements in antenatal imaging and molecular genetics, creating an ongoing need for pediatric neurologists to keep abreast of the evolving knowledge. Diagnostic aspects, prognostication, planning postnatal management and counselling expectant parents in such consultations have inherent challenges. This podcast aims to equip a practicing pediatric neurologist for consultations related to fetal CNS malformations.
Learning Objectives:
o Interpret antenatal ultrasound reports and determine the significance of a reported finding.
o Understanding when to ask for fetal MRI
o Understanding which anomalies require counselling towards termination of pregnancy.
o Understanding salient points that need to be covered during counselling expectant parents
