As an educational activity of the International Child Neurology Association (ICNA), a joint meeting was organized with Tabriz University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) as the 16th National and 3rd International Child Neurology Congress, 14-16 September 2016, in Tabriz, Iran. The theme was neurodevelopmental disabilities in children for the child neurologist in practice. The Iranian Child Neurology Society (ICNS) and ICNA collaborated to put together a scientific program addressing the evaluation of development and common causes of developmental delay in children; particular etiologic groups, namely, epileptic, metabolic, neuromuscular, and developmental conditions were discussed.
The scientific chair of the congress, Dr Mohamad Barzegar, and the executive chair Dr Seifollah Heidarabady realized the organization of this very successful meeting with guest speakers Linda de Meirleir, Banu Anlar and Smail Zubcevic as ICNA speakers, and Haluk Topaloğlu, Kıvılcım Gucuyener, Hasan Tekgul as speakers from the Turkish Child Neurology Association in addition to faculty members from Iran, Australia and USA. The guests visited the pediatric wards in two hospitals as well as the largest children's hospital of the country scheduled for opening in 2017; they consulted certain problem cases, and finally added some sightseeing of the beautiful region of Tabriz into their program
