Event Description:

We are pleased to announce the Cleveland Clinic Epilepsy Update & Review Course – 2017 to be held September 23-25, 2017, at the Intercontinental Hotel located on the main campus of the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. The course will not only provide state-of-the-art updates on Epilepsy diagnosis, medical and  surgical treatment, This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ as well as the selfassessment activity of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology maintenance of certification (MOC)  program. The program content is appropriate for practicing Adult and Child Neurologists as well as Epileptologists, trainees/fellows, mid-level providers, and nursing personnel. Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant will be able to do the following:

  • Review the Essential Pathophysiology and Classification of the Epilepsies 
  • Review the pharmacology and action of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) 
  • Describe major epileptic syndromes across the age spectrum 
  • Discuss the differential diagnosis of epilepsy and related paroxysmal disorders such as syncope, cardiac events and nonepileptic seizures 
  • Discuss epilepsy management in women of childbearing age 
  • Describe treatment options for patients with medically refractory epilepsy 
  • Interpret electroencephalographic information in ambulatory patients, in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in ICU and in status epilepticus
