[Editorial] Investing in autism: better evidence for better care

People with autism are often poorly served, not only in terms of access to treatment and support but also by the extent to which interventions are based on robust evidence. The Autism Dividend: Reaping the Rewards of Better Investment, a report published on Jan 17, 2017, by the National Autism Project, highlights how far autistic people in the UK are from receiving care that meets their needs and is known to be cost-effective, or even effective. More funding and more evidence are needed to ensure that people affected by autism receive the care and support they need to lead fulfilling and rewarding lives.
